Atnayan

Atnayan Waterfall is a cascading waterfall found in Purok Atnayan, Sitio New Canaan, Barangay Pag-asa, Alabel, Sarangani Province. The main waterfall stands about 75-feet high with significant volume of water flowing off a rocky crevice.

Trekkers who would want to reach the Atnayan Waterfall would have to go through an-hour-and-a-half ride via a single motorcycle (locally known as habal-habal) or a truck (locally known as weapon) to Sitio Sofan. From Sofan, river trekking will follow for roughly about three hours to Purok Atnayan.

From the local community in Atnayan, another half-an -hour of river trekking will follow. Before reaching the main waterfall of Atnayan, trekkers would have to go through four (4) cascades of different heights, two of which require crock climbing.

According to locals, there had been a proposal for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant at the Atnayan Waterfall.

It is our goal that, although we dream of development for the area, we have to make sure that the natural resources will be protected and that the interest of the locals will prevail.
